How we research our guides

For a girls’ trip with six people, a beautiful home is only the starting point. The right choice also needs sleeping arrangements everyone accepts, enough bathrooms, a workable location and a clear total. Bijou Getaways offers a focused portfolio across six destinations; Plum Guide offers a much broader curated marketplace. Start with Bijou if your group has chosen one of its destinations, and compare Plum Guide when you need more geographic choice. This guide is written by Bijou about its own service; it is not an independent ranking. Facts and the sample quote were checked November 5, 2026.

Start with six people’s needs, not six names on a booking

Before browsing, agree on a per-person budget, who is willing to share a bed, whether anyone needs a step-free route, and whether one person will bring a pet. “Sleeps six” can mean two bedrooms plus a sofa bed. It rarely means six private sleeping spaces. For a four-to-seven-night trip, two bathrooms and a comfortable shared living space may matter more than a dramatic view. Ask about dining seats, mirrors, luggage storage and the route home after dinner. A girls’ trip is a stay with friends, not permission to host a party: check visitor, quiet-hour and event rules.

How each curates: a focused portfolio versus a broad marketplace

Bijou organizes its portfolio into six destinations and four themed collections: Wine Country Escapes, Island & Coastal Escapes, City Bijoux and Walk-to-Everything. These help narrow the search, but the exact listing should establish walking access, beds and amenities. Bijou does not publish a detailed selection checklist that we can substantiate here, so we do not claim that every home passes an independent inspection. Plum Guide’s own vetting page describes reviewing design, reviews and location, followed by expert checks of hosts, maintenance, cleanliness and the accuracy of photographs. It also uses “home truths” to flag limitations. Those are Plum Guide’s published descriptions, not checks we performed ourselves.

Scale matters only after you know where you want to go

Bijou covers Maui, Napa Valley, St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Paris, the French Riviera and Miami. Its catalog includes homes accepting six or more guests in Napa, Maui and St. John at the time of our check; do not assume every destination has a suitable six-person home. Plum Guide’s homepage advertises more than 30,000 stays in over 40 destinations. That scale can help when your group has not settled on a location. Once you have chosen a town, however, compare the available homes for your dates rather than using total portfolio size as a quality score.

A real five-night Napa example for six people

For Pet-Friendly Silverado Condos with Pool & Golf Course View (Guesty listing 690e86bc503bba0013979da0), we requested a quote for February 8–13, 2027, with six guests. The Guesty checkout quote returned USD $5,112.84: $3,860.70 accommodation, $400 cleaning and $852.14 tax. Split equally, that is $852.14 per person for five nights, or about $170.43 per person per night. No coupon was applied. This is a quote snapshot retrieved November 5, 2026; prices and availability can change, and extras such as an applicable pet charge must be confirmed. It is not evidence that Bijou is cheaper than a matching Plum Guide stay, which we have not priced.

Guest fees: why the final total is the useful number

Bijou advertises no booking fee; cleaning, taxes and applicable extras still belong in your budget. Plum Guide’s published fee guide describes two arrangements: a shared structure with a 12% guest charge and a 3% host charge, or a host-only structure with 16.5% charged to the host and no separate guest fee. Do not add 12% to every Plum quote: the applicable structure matters. Compare the total displayed for your chosen property, dates, six guests and currency. A host-side charge may affect how a host sets the rate, but it is not a separate guest line item to add twice.

Match the sleeping plan to the destination

For Napa, decide whether two private condos or connected spaces suit your group before assuming everyone will share one living room. For Maui, a one-bedroom condo accepting six could require more shared sleeping than a two-bedroom home accepting eight. For St. John, the catalog lists both one-bathroom and two-bathroom homes accepting six; that difference can affect six people getting ready together. The named shortlist above gives a starting point, not a guarantee about bed types or distances. Confirm the exact layout and access with the provider before paying.

Pet-friendly and walkable are property-specific decisions

Both sites offer pet-friendly choices, but ask about the particular animal, weight or breed restrictions, charges and building rules before reserving. For walking access, plot your actual destination—restaurant, beach, grocery store or ferry—rather than accepting a neighborhood-wide label. A short distance can still involve stairs, hills, traffic or a difficult route after dark. If all six guests plan to taste wine, include a designated driver or arranged transport in the budget. For airport transfers and rental cars, confirm enough seats and luggage space for everyone.

Guest cancellation and host cancellation are different

If you cancel, your refund depends on the terms attached to the reservation. Bijou’s public policy states a full refund when cancellation occurs at least five days before arrival, but the sample Guesty quote returned a rate named “Flexible - 1 Day.” Ask Bijou to resolve any difference between the public policy and your quoted rate in writing before paying. Do not treat a rate name as a complete refund policy. Plum Guide likewise displays each home’s guest-cancellation terms on the listing and at checkout. A rule about the host cancelling is a separate protection and should not be substituted for the guest’s cancellation deadline.

What happens if the host cancels?

Plum Guide’s current help page says its team will try to find a suitable replacement priced up to 20% higher when the host cancels more than 48 hours after confirmation, and up to 50% higher within five days of check-in. It describes a full refund if a suitable replacement cannot be found. Terms and timing apply; this is not a promise that your preferred replacement will be available. We are not claiming that Bijou has an equivalent percentage-based replacement guarantee. Ask Bijou what support and remedies apply to your reservation, especially before buying nonrefundable flights.

How to use reviews without comparing unlike scores

Read recent reviews for the exact home when available, focusing on cleanliness, noise, sleeping comfort, arrival and responsiveness. A company-wide rating on its own website and a third-party review-platform score measure different sets of experiences. We have therefore not presented Bijou’s marketing rating beside a Plum Guide Trustpilot score as if they were a controlled comparison. Photographs, explicit room counts, written answers and current property-specific reviews are more useful for deciding whether six friends will be comfortable.

When to choose each

Start with Bijou when your destination is in its portfolio, an available home fits all six guests, and you prefer a company-direct booking route. Start with Plum Guide when you want a broader set of destinations or more options to compare within a location. For either, ask the same questions: how many real beds, how many bathrooms, which extras, what arrival process, what cancellation deadline and what final total? Choose the home that fits the answers rather than assuming that “curated” means identical services everywhere.

FAQ: Which is cheaper for six people?

There is no verified universal winner. The Napa example is $5,112.84 for six guests over five nights, but it is only one dated Bijou quote. Obtain a complete Plum Guide quote for the same dates, currency and comparable sleeping setup before making a price judgment.

FAQ: Can I filter Bijou homes for six guests?

Yes. We checked the live search endpoint with six guests: every returned home had a stated capacity of at least six. A search without dates checks capacity, not availability. Adding February 8–13, 2027 returned a smaller date-available selection. Keep all six guests in the search and review the final checkout quote; do not compare a two-person headline price with a six-person stay.

FAQ: Does a six-person stay require three bedrooms?

Not necessarily. A home may accommodate six using shared beds or convertible sleeping areas, but your group must be comfortable with that arrangement. If everyone needs more privacy, search for the bedroom count and bed configuration you actually need rather than relying only on guest capacity.
