For your first Napa weekend, spend one day around Carneros and downtown Napa, then choose either an upper-valley outing or a downtown cooking experience for day two. Start with Domaine Carneros and Oxbow; add Schramsberg and St. Helena only if your second day allows the drive. Below are specific places to investigate, why they fit together and what to book first.

Day one: Carneros, then downtown Napa

Aim for a late-morning Domaine Carneros reservation, subject to availability. Make this the main wine experience rather than the first stop in a race. After the tasting, head to Oxbow Public Market for lunch: its merchant list lets your group compare options such as Gott’s, Hog Island Oyster Bar and Loveski Deli. Check each merchant’s service before going. Add Ritual Coffee while you are already there, then leave the afternoon open for downtown. Our timing is a suggested sequence, not a statement of winery appointment availability.

Day two: Schramsberg and a St. Helena lunch

Choose a Schramsberg experience first and read its duration and arrival instructions. Place lunch at Gott’s Roadside in St. Helena before or after that appointment according to the actual slot you book. Do not add another tasting simply to fill a gap; queues, the winery visit and the drive deserve breathing room. This upper-valley day is better for a full free day than for a tight airport-departure afternoon.

The food-first alternative: CIA at Copia

If one winery visit is enough, use day two for a cooking class at CIA at Copia instead. Check the class calendar, format and dietary requirements before booking. A class may include enough food to replace a separate lunch, so read the description before reserving another meal. If no suitable class is available, choose a relaxed Oxbow food outing rather than assuming that classes are offered whenever you arrive.

Transport, budget and the actual home address

Compare the full experience cost: tasting fees, any food add-ons, lunch and transport. For a hosted wine day, ask Platypus about its itinerary, pickup and excluded fees before reserving your own wineries. If arranging a driver separately, supply the confirmed appointment times and addresses. Bijou’s Napa residences are at 1600 Atlas Peak Road; plan from that address rather than assuming the property is walkable from downtown. Keep your second day local if checkout or your onward journey makes an upper-valley outing impractical.

Before you go

  • Book the winery or class that matters most before filling in meals.
  • Check age restrictions and group rules before paying for a tasting.
  • Confirm transport pickup at your actual property address.
  • For a shorter weekend, choose Carneros plus downtown and save the upper valley for another stay.
